How To Get Rid Of Belly Fat – St. Petersburg Personal Trainer

Happy Monday from your  Fitness St. Pete Personal Trainers & Weight Loss Experts !

Here at Fitness St Pete I Tierra Verde Fitness and over the previous 20 years  with Custom Bodies, people come flooding into our group fitness training programs  and in-home & outdoor park personal training programs with the overwhelming questions of  “how to get rid of belly fat” or “get a flat stomach” especially during this time of year as pool beach and boat time doubles and we spend more time in skin bearing clothes and bathing suits.

This is the time of year when people start doubling up on their  stomach exercises, increasing their cardio, slashing calories and turning towards “diet” shakes and prepackaged  diet foods.  These are actually the 3 WORST things you can do to lose belly fat and bloat.

If you are like most men and women  over 50, getting rid of belly fat seems may seem  like an  impossibility. You may have even resigned yourself  to buying new swimsuits or cover ups because of  “hormones” or “your metabolism”.  As a woman over 50 myself, I’m here to tell you, it is not only possible but is much easier than you think.

Losing 10 lbs of belly bloat and fat isn’t has hard as most people think it is. Our average member loses between 5 – 15 pounds during the first 2 weeks doing nothing other than making these  simple, sustainable changes to their diet and go on to lose 20, 30 or more pounds.
These are the “secrets” behind  “eating smarter not less” because they are usually eating far more than they were before while losing belly fat and bloat.

Today, I want to talk to you about the two biggest nutrition mistakes people make.  Follow these tips, toss away these myths and I guarantee a flat, toned stomach you are proud of !

MISTAKE #1: Relying on  boxed and pre packed diet foods and shakes.

They are  loaded with chemicals and preservatives which can wreak havoc on  your fat loss efforts by causing your body to burn fewer calories and throwing your hormones out of whack.

They are also full of salt which causes bloat and puffiness and sugar alcohol which causes bloating.

It’s not about the calories but how your body stores them.

DO THIS INSTEAD:  Pack in the Protein:

Not only does Protein help to add body sculpting, butt lifting muscle but it helps you feel fuller at each meal and curb hunger. Our clients generally eat about  30% of their daily calories from protein a day. Eat a protein source at EVERY meal and try to incorporate some into snacks. Join Our Private Community, St. Pete & Tierra Verde’s Fit Over 50 for the best flat belly foods and protein sources

Eat Your Fruits & Veggies:

The fiber and nutrient dense nature of whole fruits and vegetables will not only reduce belly bloat but will leave you feeling fuller, longer.

TRAINER TIP: Although fruits & vegetables are nutritionally dense and full of fiber leaving you fuller longer,  avoid eating them without a quality protein or fat to keep your blood sugar even.

This is just the tip of what you will learn in my FREE, Signature 7 Day Flat Belly Course. where I have an entire module dedicated to how to “Fix Your Fat Kitchen” by spotting the worst ingredients for a flat belly and how you can replace them with foods your family will love.

Mistake #2: Overly restricting calories:

You CAN  see changes towards a flatter stomach in 7 days and drop a full dress sizes in 3  weeks without taking drastic measures like low calorie diets or doing hours of endless cardio. Our Group Personal Training  members drop up to 6 pounds in a week and up to 15  in 2 weeks  when they learn how to eat smarter not less. Less than 1,200 calories is usually not enough to support your basal metabolism and thus will slow your body’s calorie-burning ability and cause your body to burn muscle for energy.

Very low calorie diets will help you lose weight in the short term but when your body has had enough of being starved, you WILL binge, gaining all of your weight back and you will be looking down at a MORE bloated belly.

DO THIS INSTEAD:

Follow the 90% to 10% rule:

If you  eat whole, unprocessed, nutrient dense foods 90% of the time and get in your protein, the other 10% is not not going to effect your belly busting efforts. The influx in calories from that 10% will stoke your metabolism, keep you from feeling deprived and keep you on track.
