How To Avoid Valentine’s Day Weight Gain

Here at Fitness St Pete I Tierra Verde Fitness and over the previous 20 years  with Custom Bodies, this is the time of year that the Topic Of Conversation In Our Group Fitness training  Programs Has Been About Planning Out The Week around Valentine’s Day  so as to enjoy it and all it stands for without sacrificing weight loss and fitness goals.

Today I’m here to give you 3 simple strategies and 5 non food gifts that have helped our group training members and private clients enjoy Valentines without sacrificing their goals. 

1.  Do NOT completely deprive yourself and tell yourself you “can’t” have something because you are “on a diet” –

Valentine’s Day is a time for laughter, love and fun. Having a few tasty delicacies will not lead to weight gain. Moderation is key. Research indicates chocolate is chock-full of healthy compounds and may actually help prevent heart disease and enhance immune systems.

It’s VERY important to remember: The MODERATION part of tip #1 and that a few chocolates popped in your mouth can set off a sugar binge that lasts until it’s time to start putting on Summer Clothes.

The sugar free chocolates and candies you will see lined up in the “health food” or “diet” sections of your grocery store or local CVS are LOADED with chemicals and preservatives that are no friend to your body, hormones or weight loss efforts so, I’ve put together my favorite fat blasting Valentine’s Day Recipes like Strawberry Short Cake kabobs, Avocado Pudding, Chocolate Almond You Won’t Believe It’s Not Fudge, Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Bark
and Chocolate Almond Butter Cups.

These are PERFECT to send with your kids to school , give as gifts or bring to work to avoid those chemical laden, metabolism busting boxed chocolates.

2. Consider Dining In This Year –

Anyone who knows (or has dated) me knows that I don’t find fancy restaurants a fun  way to celebrate; be it my birthday, anniversary or any of the other times w hen a meal out is generally the automatic go to.

A great way to save calories, money, avoid crowds and really enjoy your  friends or significant other is a romantic meal at home. Find an easy, healthy meal you can prepare, rent some romantic movies and make a healthy dessert, like strawberry shortcake, avocado pudding or almond butter cups.

3.  You don’t HAVE to give the gift of chocolate (or any food for that matter)-
