At 68 , She Was Looking To Reclaim Her Body

After letting her body deteriorate for decades, Dorothy came into our Summer Shape Up Program,  trusted the process,  has since lost 10 pounds, countless aches and pains, dropped her resting heart rate to the low 60s  and her life has completely changed.

Oh, and did I mention, Dorothy was 68 when she joined us?

” I have lost ten plus inches and ten pounds so far. I have learned how to eat healthier and enjoy my food. I am stronger, happier, standing straighter and feeling younger.”

After almost 30 years of Personal Training in St Petersburg Fl., I have to say, Dorothy is one of the most dedicated and willing participants to come  into of our Small Group Fitness Training Programs ! After decades of  unhealthy habits and a sedentary lifestyle  left Dorothy (aka Dottie Pants) feeling  “dumpy, weak, unhealthy, off balance and old” Dorothy had enough. After watching the amazing weight loss transformation of her friend Vicki, Dorothy took a leap of faith and joined us for our Summer Shape Up Challenge and the rest, as they say, is history. 

She came in barely barely able to walk or stand up straight never mind hold a plank or battle ropes and has turned into one of our hardest chargers.

Dorothy’s changes go way beyond the number on a scale. Dorothy’s success is also about the reduction in aches and pains  and the increase in confidence and energy that comes along with it!

Losing fat and  gaining strength and flexibility is awesome,

Being 68, decreasing aches and pains and lowering your resting heat rate to 60 is amazing….But whats even more awesome is what that weight loss does for someone.

When someone’s life is transformed, it can really be a difference maker far beyond the number on the scale.

Dorothy is always the first to try a new exercise or level up and she is always there to  take the newbies under her wing and encourage struggling veterans  and is a source of  laughter and inspiration to everyone around her ..

Where did you grow up?
 I grew up in New York City and Long Island.

How long have you been doing a Fitness St Pete Group Personal Training Program and why did you start?

I started the program in July 2018. I started because I had not worked out for many years and felt that I was aging poorly. In other words, I felt dumpy, weak, unhealthy, off balance and old.

What kinds of results have you achieved so far?  It actually has been an amazing experience for me. I have lost ten plus inches and ten pounds so far. I have learned how to eat healthier and enjoy my food. I am stronger, happier, standing straighter and feeling younger.

 How has your fitness level/health improved since becoming a Fitness St Pete Group Personal Training Member? All of the above plus feeling better about myself. I generally have more energy and have strength to do things that had become too much for me before I started the program.

What are the two or three biggest benefits (they don’t have to be fitness related) you’ve experienced since becoming a group fitness training member? I love the people in the program. Everyone is wonderful and extremely supportive of each other.

I feel much happier with myself. This could be possibly because of the commitment. Or the endorphins or eating healthier or all of it.
How has your program compared with your expectations? The program has exceeded my expectations. Dianne works hard to individualize everyone’s workout for their level and physical issues they may have. Although, I am currently the oldest group member (68) and maybe the one with the least endurance, I feel totally included and 100% comfortable in the group.

Tell us an interesting or unusual fact about yourself. I went to Woodstock

Hobbies/Interests outside of camp? I like to show dogs in conformation and teach puppy class , Music, Plays, movies

What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?  The only results you get are positive. There is no failing. You can sit on the fence forever,….but nothing happens, time passes and you feel worse. Any step forward…change will happen.
This is not a linear thing. It’s like life. Some days are better than others. What I know for sure is that the commitment keeps me moving forward.
