The Over 40 Working Mom

“I  was looking for a personal trainer and joined the Tierra Verde Fitness Group Fitness Training  Program because I was fed up with the ups and downs of extreme dieting. I was scared because I was not sure I could handle the workouts. “

Heather started with us on November 5th last year, a time when most are neck deep in “it’s the Holidays. I want to enjoy them and  worry about it after the holidays are over” mode. As a personal trainer in St Petersburg, I don’t think I’ve seen many people come in as determined and committed as Heather.

Not only did she manage to drop 4 lbs and 6′ in a month where most people are gaining weight while enjoying friends, family and festivities, she managed to make it to all 8 of her scheduled camp sessions! (yes, it is possible to enjoy your favorite foods, train 2X a week and see massive results)

What makes her even more remarkable is the fact that she is an over 40 working mother who is also working on a degree in her “spare” time  AND hosted a group of 20 for Thanksgiving !!

Where did you grow up? South Tampa

Hobbies/Interests outside of camp? Fishing, hunting, playing guitar and cooking

Favorite Tierra Verde Fitness Group Training exercise? Hmmm, probably using resistance bands

Least favorite Tierra Verde Fitness Group training  exercise? Crab Crawls

How long have you been doing a  Tierra Verde Fitness Group Training Program and why did you start? Almost two months, because I was tired of yoyo dieting and wanted to learn how to live a healthy lifestyle.

Please describe how your Tierra Verde Fitness Group Training Program has specifically helped you achieve success with your fitness level, fitness goals or health: Dianne is extremely motivating. She makes me feel like I am getting individual attention even though I am in a group setting and is always there to answer any questions I have.

Dianne has helped me to realize that my goal is not just about losing weight; it is about leading a healthier lifestyle, getting stronger, and working out areas of dysfunction in my body. The only workouts I really did in the past was some weightlifting and walking. I have also learned how to maximize my time and calorie burn with my workouts.

How has your outlook on fitness changed since becoming a group fitness program member? After each workout I feel great and I am proud of what I have accomplished. I enjoy the people I work out with.

How has your group fitness program compared with your expectations? I was used to starving myself to lose weight, so at first the meal plan felt like I was cheating. But it is so doable and realistic way to live. It is not a diet..it is a meal plan for life!

Tell us an interesting or unusual fact about yourself:  My husband bought me a shot gun not too long ago because I thought it was fun shooting skeet.  I never thought I would be getting up at 3:30am and sitting in a duck blind in full camo… But I really enjoy hunting and love that my husband and I have another hobby we can enjoy together.

What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals? I would say to some on the fence just go for it. You can do it. My teenage son has come to some of the workouts with me. In the beginning he asked me if I enjoy the workouts. I said “I’m not sure if I enjoy them but I feel good when I am done. He said “It would really be better if you enjoyed it mom”.  I did not see that as being a possibility, but here I am, I really enjoy it!
